I started thinking about what I loved about my summer, and there were many things. I was able to spend a lot of time with family, including a day at the beach. My niece Eleanor loved exploring the tide pools and looking for star fish and crabs, and even sea cucumbers. Her baby sister Harmony loved it too.
It was Harmony's first visit to the beach, and we quickly learned that she loves sand. A LOT. And not just like, "oh wow what a cool feeling it is for my toes" love, but more of a "wow it's crunchy and salty, where has this sand been all my life!?!" kind of love. We kept trying to get the handfuls out of her chubby little fists, but we gave up and let her have a sandy feast. Some parents might be thinking "Really? But there's probably so many germs!" and yes, you are probably right, but it's what she wanted to do, being on sand watch every minute is not what we wanted to do, and frankly kids needs expose to germ to get strong immune system, right!?! Haha. No more discussion of germs, just scroll through and giggle along with her and sandy happy grins.
